Amorgos
Amorgos, one of the most attractive islands of Cyclades. From Amorgos you can easily trasport to Dwdekanisa. It combines two different landscapes, on the northern side you can enjoy the wild beauty of the mountains and on the south side you can see green valleys. This feature makes it a great destination that worth visiting.
The endless blue of the Aegean sea that cools the hot and beautiful beaches, creates an ideal setting to escape from the monotonous daily routine.The main feature of the island is to preserve the identity and culture of Cyclades.
Amorgos has two natural ports that offer a warm welcome to visitors. The one bay is in Katapola and the second is in Aigiali. The interest is focused on the island’s center center, in the capital of Amorgos, that is known as Hora, the nothern village of Amorgos Aigiali and the southern village of Arkesini. Each settlement offers a different experience to the visitor. The common point is the inhabitants of the island, all of which are warm, friendly and try to make visitors have an unforgettable time.
It is worth visiting the ruins of the castle, 13th century and the churches on the island, where the visitors can see the byzantine mementos. There are several churches that beleievers and tourists can visit such as, Agiwn Pantwn, the Virgin Vlisani, St. Nicholas's Cathedral, the Saint Apostoles, Mitropoli, Zoodoxou Pigi and the estate of Fotodoti Christ.
However, the most important church is the Virgin Chozoviotissa, founded by A. Comnenus at 1088. The holidaymakers can also visit the Tower Gavras, where is hosted the collection of archaeological finds from the island.
In the north of Amorgos lies Aigiali, where the most of the visitors prefer to stay because of the sandy and big beaches and the variety in entertainment options for the tourists. However, the southern part of Amorgos, Arkesini, can offer beautiful and full of fun moments, as in this part of the island visitors can see the alternation of the landscape, from the rocky ground to the green valleys, full of fruit trees. The sites that worth visiting in Arkesini are two, the location Kastri and the Tower of St. Trinity.
The beaches of Amorgos enchant all visitors and peole can understand why preety fast. The famous beach of Amorgos, combines the sand with the sea trees giving a unique landscape for the travelers. On the opposite side of Aigiali, lie the deserted beaches Levrossos, Psili Ammos and Chochlaka.
Northeast from the port of Amorgos, lie the deserted and pristine beaches of Little and Great Vlychada. Beneath the monastery Chozoviotissa are the beautiful beaches of St. Anne, Sirma and Kampi. On the south side you will find Mouros and Amoudi beach, and the sandy beach Paradisi. The nudists prefer bech Faros for their relaxation. Near the port of Katapola the visitors can find deserted beaches such as Saint Saranda, Foinikies, Agios Panteleimon and the beach of Saint Paul, where all can enjoy the to fantastic sunset,relaxing under the Greek sun and the beauty of the Aegean.
Amorgos can offer its visitors a variety in entertainment. Tourists can relax and eat in the graphic taverns of the island, have a drink at several bars, where you can hear all
kinds of music in order to satisfy all tastes, and continue the night at various clubs on the island.
The transportation to Amorgos can be done by ferrys from Piraeus to one of the two bays, Katapola or Aigiali.During the summer season there are daily routes to serve as many people as possible. Amorgos connects to Naxos and the route carries out by Express Skopelitis. There is permanent connection to Syros, Paros, Mykonos, Santorini and Astypalea, in order to give visitors the chance to choose the best route for them.
