Among the beautiful groups of islands that spread around the Greek seas are the islands of the Saronic Gulf. These islands consist of Aegina, Poros, Spetses, Hydra, Agistri, Salamis and Methana. They are very close to Athens and access to them is very easy due to the frequent ship departures from the port of Piraeus.

With these specifications, of course, for many travelersbecome an ideal destination for a weekend, escaping from the daily routine and the stress of the city.

The islands of the Saronic Gulf have a substantial long history and tradition that connect them closely with the sea.

Poros will give you a romantic mood and feeling of relaxation and freshness that will surprise you.

Hydra is a cosmopolitan island, but has also a picturesque landscape, an epitome of architecture and style. It has been declared as preserved city in order to keep unchangeable the elements which characterize it. No cars are allowed in the island so you can go with the ferryboat. In the narrow streets of Hydra you will enjoy romantic strolls where you will admire the traditional houses wihile in the evening you can have entertainment in one of the many bars of the island.

There are two characteristics that define the beauty of Spetses. The pine-covered slopes that reach the sea and the neoclassical buildings that take you back in the centuries, giving you a picture of another era. You will find taverns just above the sea with the combination of saltiness of the sea air, bars and cafes along the coast where the evening lights reflect in the calm waters seem magical. Do not forget to ride the curricle to the most idyllic spots on the island.

Agistri is another small island in the Saronic Gulf, but its beauty is unsurpassed. The beaches with crystal clear blue waters and pine trees that reach the sea will make you believe that you are in a paradise. Due to its small size, the island can easily be explored on a bike or motorcycle, that you can rent in one of the agencies.

The islands of the Saronic Gulf are a unique choice for those seeking a romantic vacation or are looking for an easy escape from the hectic pace of the city without having to travel away from Athens.
