Agistri: A nearby haven
At the heart of the Saronic, very close to Athens is located that small green island. The "little brother" of Aegina is an ideal destination for short breaks and offers relaxation and tranquility. The capital and main port is Megalochori. It is a picturesque village with traditional island houses, cobbled streets, taverns, and many accommodations for visitors.
During your stay on Agistri worth visiting the Cultural Center with the collection of archaeological findings and the old village Metochi that will impress you with its dazzling view and the traditional tiled houses. The beaches are really beautiful, sandy with crystal clear waters. The most popular is Skala, and the main beach in Megalochori. More deserted are the beaches of Magkiza, Bariamas and Skliri, while impressive is the beach Halikiada preferred by nudists.
In Agistri you wont miss the fun. You can dine in taverns and restaurants and by the evening you can enjoy your drink at the bars and clubs on the island. Two major festivals take place in celebration of “Zoodochou Pigi” on Friday of Easter and July 7 in celebration of Agia Kiriaki.
